Digital Clock and Jewelry Tray

Polyeurethane, polystyrene, circuit board, and two pieces from original clock, 2024

I took apart a Tozai Solid State Digital Alarm Clock I found at a thrift store and remade the white plastic shell while keeping the original electronics. This was accomplished with hand-building techniques, initially making the form with a polystyrene vacuform mold, then designing the internal components. The top half of the clock was then cast in a silicon mold, and the final part replicated in polyurethane. To add a new feature to the design of the clock I added a tray on the top to put jewelry or other small objects into.
