Inertia
Powdercoat Copper, 2025
Reflecting on the machines and movements I grew up around, I remembered the container cranes that would load and unload the cargo ships at the port of Seattle. I had always been drawn to the shapes, so I made an effort to commemorate and consider them in this sculpture. Made from silver-soldered copper plate and wire, the form is meant to evoke machinery and tension while remaining in a stable position as a contemplation of our post-industrialized economy.
